This 1981 Mark IIB combo has the classic Mesa Boogie look, with the dark stained wood cabinet and wicker front grille. It shows only minor signs of previous wear and still presents very well overall. The Mark IIB is one of the most underrated Swiss Army knife amps of the 1980s—offering a wide range of tones between the normal and lead channels. Many players are surprised by how powerful and responsive the graphic EQ can be.
A neat feat about this particular amp is the original power transformer is an export model - which is very large, and has settings from 117VAC-240, for international voltage.
True to its heritage, the IIB carries on the Mark I legacy of the “Fender Princeton on steroids,” delivering an organic, touch-sensitive tone with a straightforward control layout. Some of the filter caps were changed in the 90's, but otherwise it's all original. It could be nearing time for a cap job again sometime soon. It also includes an older road case - the internal foam has disintegrated, and the casters are a bit stiff.
