This Martin D-18 1946, Natural is the kind of guitar that immediately feels at home in your hands. At 80 years old, it has a wonderful sense of history and character, with a healthy Sitka Spruce top and its original bridge plate still intact. The guitar did sustain some cracks to the rim and back at some point in its life, but those repairs were done years ago and it remains sturdy and structurally sound. What really stands out is the voice, powerful, warm, open, and incredibly satisfying to play. It has plenty of low end depth, clear mids, and crisp highs, with the projection and headroom you want from a D 18 while still responding beautifully to a lighter touch. This is a guitar you can pick up and immediately want to play, whether you're writing a song, working through some flatpicking, or simply sitting around playing for the joy of it. For anyone looking for a solid 1940s D 18 with real character and a great voice, this one is a special find.
