Martin's Custom Shop takes the "understated looks" and "timeless tone" of the D-18 and give it a serious tonal upgrade with Adirondack spruce and sinker mahogany. The mahogany used in these batches of guitars is Central American, the same genus used in Martin's sought after pre-war guitars. Harvested between 1880 and 1920, the logs were floated downriver, with many sinking in the process. Those logs were recovered more recently and crafted into Custom Shop guitars like this one. Combining that mahogany with forward-shifted scalloped bracing and dynamic, stiff Adirondack spruce for the soundboard delivers up a D-18 with massive rumbling, articulate dreadnought power. The condition of this pre-owned guitar is excellent, with only a couple superficial finish dings.
Includes its original hard shell case.
