This instrument is one of the finest surviving examples of a 1930s Larson Brothers guitar we’ve encountered—a true gem of pre-war craftsmanship and an exceptional rosewood Jumbo by any standard. This exquisite 16" Jumbo, branded "Maurer" on the internal strip. August and Carl began using this trademark in the 1930s, and guitars bearing this brand often exhibit "modern" features such as a 14-fret neck joint, slimmer neck profile, solid, non-slotted peghead, and, frequently, larger bodies. Every Larson Brothers instrument was handmade, and during this period, each guitar was a unique creation. In the 1930s, their Elm Street workshop operated much like a modern custom shop, crafting one-of-a-kind instruments for direct sale to customers. While this particular guitar remains largely original, it has undergone several essential repairs to restore its playability. These include a neck reset (will benefit from another), reglued bridge, repairs to the top center seam cracks extending from the bottom of the bridge, and a lower rim crack near the binding.
Comes in original Hardshell Case.
*When using Affirm, we charge an additional 3.5% fee on the total at checkout. The majority of our instruments are consignment, where CVG keeps a small percentage of each sale. To be able to cover the additional costs required to offer financing, we have to include a higher fee to the customer. The 3.5% fee will be included in and spread across your Affirm payments.
