A beautiful custom-ordered OM-C from Ohio luthier Jeff Jewitt! We've seen the special sinker mahogany Jeff used on this guitar before, on another OM we sold last year. Recovered from the Hudson River, evidence would suggest it came from a sawmill that operated during the 1800s and early 1900s called Ichabod T. Williams & Sons. They not only supplied mahogany to furniture makers all over the US, but receipts from Martin's archives show they supplied much of the mahogany used for their "Golden Era" guitars made in the 1930s!
Paired with this magical mahogany is what Jeff declares the cleanest, silkiest set of AAA-grade Swiss spruce he's used. The combination of tonewoods is perfect. Sweet and clean, with a nice bite in the bass and warm mids to round it out, this is a fingerstylist's dream mahogany guitar. The carefully shaped neck has a soft V up to the 7th fret, flattening to a C shape beyond, making it comfortable for many left hand approaches. Ziricote for the fretboard and bridge, Jeff's "cat eye" inlay, and the spalted maple rosette and end graft are all perfectly complementary.
TKL HSC included.
