The 2019 JEM77P in Blue Floral is Steve Vai's signature shape wrapped in one of the loudest finishes Ibanez ever put on a guitar, taking the pattern normally reserved for the Loch Ness Green and Pink Floral runs and swapping it into blue. The Monkey Grip handle is still cut into the body, the Lion's Claw tremolo cavity is still there, and the DiMarzio Evolution set stays wired the way Vai spec'd it from the start. Ibanez built the JEM line to chase speed, so the neck is thin, the frets are jumbo, and the disappearing pyramid inlays run up a board that's cut for reach. This one's floral finish alone puts it ahead of most JEM77 examples that just come in solid colors, and it's a guitar built for a very specific style of playing that showed up all over late-'80s and '90s shred. Anyone who grew up on that sound will recognize exactly what this is the second they see it.
