Masterbuilt by the former head of the G&L Custom Shop, this is a faithful recreation of Eddie Van Halen's original Black and White Frankenstrat. Built and painted as it would have existed in the 1978 era world tour, with just the right amount of aging and wear on the body, done with reference photos from that 1978 tour.
Many details from Ed's original are included on this build, including real 1970's era New Old Stock Schaller M6 tuning machines, Katalox wooden position markers on the fretboard, a brass nut, a simulated knot in the treble side cutaway on the body, and even a hand-shaped black pick guard with a small piece of foil coming through a control hole on the front. The neck also has a smooth, comfortable oil finish, with a really comfortable shape. The Pariah Pasadena Series White pickup nails that late 70's era VH cutting tone, and really helps dial in that "Brown Sound" those early records are famous for.
Modern build features include blind cut fret slots, and an easy-access spoke nut truss rod. The frets were expertly leveled by a Plek machine for perfect playability.
