This 2000 Guild JF55 pairs the company’s large jumbo body design with a striking black finish, creating a look that stands apart from the more common natural examples. Built during Guild’s final years in Westerly, Rhode Island, the JF55 represented the upper end of the company’s flat-top lineup, combining substantial air volume with the rich, expansive voice that has long made jumbo acoustics appealing. The large body produces a broad tonal footprint, with plenty of depth and presence behind open chords and single-note lines alike.
This example has been refinished in black and is fitted with a Fishman pickup system, making it a guitar that has evolved alongside its use over the years. A small crack is present along the bass-side waist of the top. The guitar remains in very good condition and retains the character that has made Guild jumbos a favorite among acoustic players. It carries the look of an instrument that has been actively enjoyed while continuing to offer plenty of life ahead.
