Nowhere short of impressive, this Goldtop is a stunning gold finish all over. The checking and wear on this guitar tells the story of a lifetime of play and love from its owners as it continues to bring a smile to anyone that plays it. Like many guitars of its age, it takes a quilt of repairs to keep it in playing condition and continue to serve the players. This guitar has a wonderful clarity and attack from the P90 pickups. Repairs include changed tuners, touchup on the headstock wing, nut removed at some point, change knob for bridge pickup tone, refret and changed switch tip. It also has a replaced and spliced jack with added jumper wire, replaced jack plate, some solder touchup, added shielding in the control cavities and on the control cavity plates, as well as some replaced screws for the cavity covers.
While this guitar is not short of repairs and modifications, it does still show its original all gold finish. Typically seen with a mahogany back, this guitar was fully finished with the iconic gold paint. It has aged beautifully and shows some areas of oxidation. The neck is extremely comfortable to play and overall the Les Paul is a very well balanced instrument.
