This 1964 Gibson J-200 offers bellowing tone and great playability living up to its "King of Flattops" name. It's undergone some hefty modifications: most notably a replacement fingerboard in ebony and a new bridge. Additionally, there was a headstock break repaired with an added veneer and the back of the headstock was shaved in an attempt to reach the correct thickness. A new stinger was sprayed on the back after the repair as well. The neck block has sunk a little bit and was glued, but remains stable. There is evidence of this with a crack above the pickguard, which has had the screws removed, but was glued down. For a list of additional repairs pop over to our Specs tab!
Repairs aside, this guitar sounds great! It has a tremendous low end sound, pronounced mids and sparkling highs. The back features gorgeous quilted maple and the checking is prominent and eye-popping.
