This 1968 Gibson Dove is a clean example that has clearly been well cared for. The rare sunburst finish displays beautiful sienna tones, while the highly figured spruce top and flamed maple back and sides give it a striking visual presence. Aside from what appears to be a replacement bone nut and an added strap button at the heel, the guitar appears to retain its original components, finish, and hardware.
The neck is comfortable and free of significant wear. Typical vintage finish checking is present throughout but is subtle and often only visible at certain angles. The Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, original Dove pickguard, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and adjustable bridge all contribute to its classic Gibson character.
Most importantly, this Dove sounds every bit as good as it looks. It has a deep, rich voice with excellent responsiveness, remaining full and articulate whether played with a light touch or driven hard.
