During World War II, Gibson was producing some truly incredible instruments. Known as "Banner" Era guitars, these dynamic dreadnoughts and flattops are some of the most cherished of Gibson's history. This particular J-45 is astounding to say the least. If the huge neck does not deter the player, the range of this instrument is shocking. From a deep register producing a cannon sound, to the crispness of the trebles, this J-45 is worthy of comparison to most any Banner era dreadnought. This guitar is in excellent condition. The only repairs of note are a neck reset, refret, bridge reglue, shaved bridge, new bone nut and saddle and some overspray on the back. Playability is excellent, a bluegrass player may desire a heavier gauge string to reduce any potential buzz, however the guitar plays very easily and has impressive clarity both flatpicked and fingerstyle.
