The Gibson Advanced Jumbo is an excellent example of Gibson's craftsmanship and design. The instrument brags complex inlay work without compromise to materials and build fortitude. This example from 1936 represents these qualities, yet even further, it gives a glimpse into a particularly rare instrument. The Rosewood back and sides are stunning. An original Cherry Sunburst finish marks this guitar as the only one we have on record with the unique finish. The 1936 Advanced Jumbo is equipped with correct clipped plate Grover G-98's. Previously the guitar did have non-original bridge pins that have since been replaced with correct antique pins. Repairs include a neck reset, refret, bridge reglue, replaced nut and saddle and several cleated top and back cracks. There is added reinforcement to the side, the bridge plate was plugged and re-drilled as well as an added wedge under the fingerboard. There are some holes in the bass side of the heel from strap buttons. This instrument is sonically impressive! The tone is rich and inviting with wonderful action. Advanced Jumbos tend to be worn in because they have been played and enjoyed over decades of love. This guitar is no exception to those guitars played time and time again, it has opened very well and continues to perform at the highest level. While this is certainly a collectors piece, it is no slouch when put to the test in the hands of a true player.
