This 2022 Gallagher Doc Watson carries the name of a player tied to the company's early days. J.W. Gallagher met Doc Watson at the 1969 Fiddler's Convention in Union Grove, and Doc kept a mahogany G-50 he nicknamed "Ol Hoss" and recorded with it, including on "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". It is a US-made dreadnought with a Sitka spruce top over mahogany back and sides, finished with herringbone trim and ivoroid binding. Gallagher has been building guitars since 1965, and the Doc Watson model carries that heritage forward. It's a well-regarded American acoustic for bluegrass and folk players, and a good fit for anyone who wants a guitar with a connection to one of flatpicking's most important players.
