The Silverface-era Princeton Non-Reverb is a no-frills amp that delivers exceptional tone at a fraction of the cost of its Blackface counterparts. With one less gain stage due to the absence of reverb recovery, this model offers increased headroom and may even push out a bit more power, depending on the individual amp. The Non-Reverb Princeton has been a longtime favorite of Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, known for its pure, clean tone and natural compression when cranked.
This particular amp shows signs of long-term storage, with some oxidation on the metal parts, though there are no significant tolex blemishes to speak of. Fortunately, it’s in excellent electronic condition and runs very quiet at idle. Internally, the electrolytic caps and a single tremolo resistor have been replaced, but otherwise it is all original!
