Description
Fenders were designed, in the most part, to be repairable through replacement necks, bodies, and other screw down hardware. When old Fenders were more affordable in the 70s and 80s, it was not uncommon for players to assemble a guitar with their favorite neck/body/pickups. This example is a melting pot of 1965, 1966 and 1967 Fender parts. The neck is a February '65 with a Custom Telecaster decal, rare in its own right, and is lightly oversprayed; the tuners are correct for 1965. The serial number on the body plate falls in the 1966 time frame. The body most likely dates to 1967 based on what little clues are left: the pots are late 1966, the neck pickup appears to be dated 1967, and the bridge pickup is an undated grey bottom. The buffing compound and stripper residue on the now natural body suggest that these body parts have been together for a very long time. The tone is there, the old wood is there!
Comes in modern Fender HSC.
