This 1966 Fender Musicmaster/Duosonic–Mustang conversion started life as a Musicmaster and has seen a long, well-executed journey of transformation. Originally routed for Duo-Sonic-style pickups, it was later converted to full Mustang spec, including upgraded Mustang wiring and controls. The body has been fully refinished in vibrant Fiesta Red, with a mix of newer and original parts—most notably, the original bridge and control plate are intact, now paired with upgraded saddles (originals included in the case). It retains the short-scale Musicmaster neck, which gives it a slinky, easy-playing feel, and the pickup setup delivers a punchy, focused tone with plenty of personality. A creative and great-sounding build that captures the quirky charm of Fender’s student models with a lot more versatility under the hood.
