Fender Stratocaster 1966, Candy Apple Red

This 1966 Fender Stratocaster is an exceptionally clean example of a Candy Apple Red Strat, with little evidence of playing wear. The finish consists of 11 factory-applied layers beginning with a white primer, followed by alternating layers of gold and red before the final clear coat. That layered construction gives this Candy Apple Red finish its distinctive depth, with the gold beneath the red adding a subtle dimension. The maple neck and rosewood fingerboard retain the familiar feel of a mid-’60s Stratocaster, while the three single-coil pickups provide the clear, articulate response expected from the model. A rare combination of excellent preservation and original factory finish work makes this a particularly compelling example of Fender’s 1966 Stratocaster.
