Fender first introduced electric mandolins in 1956 with the Mandocaster—a four-string solidbody that took clear inspiration from the company’s bass designs. It’s compact and easy to handle, but unmistakably Fender, with a scaled-down offset body that mirrors the Stratocaster’s iconic shape. This Mandocaster features a slab rosewood fingerboard, an alder body finished in classic sunburst, and a four-layer tortoise-pattern celluloid pickguard. For its age, the instrument is in excellent condition, though it does show some honest wear throughout. The original logo has worn off, it has been refretted, and the knobs have been replaced.
