When first introduced in 1935 the Emperor was Epiphone’s response to Gibson’s Super 400 model, and was designed with an 18 ½”wide body - exactly ½” wider than it’s Gibson competitor. This 1960 model would have had it’s original New York made Epiphone pickup, unlike the subsequent models introduced in 1961 which used Gibson mini-humbuckers; however the previous owner of this guitar had the pickup and pickguard removed (the original pickguard is included). It is in excellent shape with no major repairs or damage to note, and feels and sounds incredible!
