Conde Hermanos Flamenco Guitar 1961, Natural

This 1961 Conde Hermanos flamenco guitar comes from the early years of the brothers’ Madrid workshop, when the instruments were still closely connected to the Domingo Esteso tradition. The Natural finish shows off the traditional Spanish construction, with a Spruce top, Cypress back and sides, and an Ebony fingerboard. A Domingo Esteso-style headstock adds to its period character, while the lightweight construction gives the guitar the quick response and percussive voice associated with classic Madrid flamenco instruments. Conde Hermanos guitars from this period are particularly interesting examples of the workshop’s early work, before the name became so closely associated with the later instruments played by figures such as Paco de Lucía.
