This 2010 Charis SJ Cutaway is built with a sinker redwood top and Malaysian blackwood back and sides, offering a warm, immediate response with a clear overtone structure. The redwood top brings a quick, open attack, while the blackwood adds depth and definition across the low and midrange. Its SJ body shape keeps the voice balanced, with a focused low end and articulate highs that remain controlled. The multi-piece neck construction combines mahogany, rosewood, and maple for added stability, paired with an ebony fingerboard featuring a trumpet vine inlay. Appointments include T’zalam binding and trim, a matching arm bevel, and a sound port, along with a Malaysian blackwood and abalone rosette. Gold Gotoh 510 tuners with custom T’zalam buttons round out the hardware. The soft cutaway provides extended upper fret access, and the overall build emphasizes clarity and separation across the strings. It stands as a detailed custom instrument with a cohesive blend of materials and design elements.
Includes OHSC (Cedar Creek hard shell case).
