These early Bad Cat amps, with legendary builder Mark Sampson at the helm, are often regarded simply as a variant of Matchless. With the same incredible quality of parts and wiring, Bad Cat amps offer a slightly different flavor, catering to a more distorted sound compared to the standard Matchless models. This one has seen some moderate use over the years, with a few nicks on the top and sides, but still looks very good. Like the Matchless, this amp features special edition Celestion speakers with Bad Cat labels. You can think of the Black Cat 30R as a slightly more gained up version of the DC-30—different but equal in every aspect of quality. The second rectifier tube is a nice touch - more tubes, more tone - right?!
