Named in honor and developed with the input of guitarists Billy Byrd and Hank Garland, Gibson launched the slim hollow body electric Byrdland in the mid-50s. In addition to being the first Thinline model, Billy and Hank requested a narrower 1-5/8" nut and extra short 23-1/2" scale, giving this guitar a unique feel and playing experience! Whether you're small-handed or just want to be able to pull off some unusual chord voicings, this guitar opens up some interesting possibilities. It's currently set-up with buttery flatwound strings.
This guitar has undergone a grafted headstock repair that appears stable, and it features replaced pickup covers and pole pieces. Otherwise, it remains original and plays beautifully with low action. It comes with a non-original hardshell case.
