Gibson Advanced Jumbo 1937, Sunburst

Introduced in the mid-1930s, the Gibson Advanced Jumbo arrived at a time when flat-top guitars were growing louder to meet the demands of string bands and early country music. This 1937 example has seen decades of use and careful maintenance, including a neck reset, refret, bridge reglue, and several structural repairs that have helped preserve its longevity. An older refinish, evidence of a previously installed electronics system with professionally filled control and jack holes, a mahogany side splice (which could potentially have been factory work), repaired side and pickguard-area cracks, and other restoration work has all been completed. Cosmetic wear includes finish checking, pick wear around the soundhole, and the natural marks expected from an instrument of this age. Its history is written into every repair and every worn edge, making it an honest prewar Gibson with nearly ninety years of music behind it.
