New! CVG x Headstrong Amplifiers Lil’ King Reverb
Introducing: an exclusive new collaboration between Carter Vintage Guitars, JD Simo, & Headstrong Amps!
JD Simo has been an intrinsic part of Carter Vintage from the very beginning, helping demo the wonderful guitars and amps we’ve had in the shop over the years. We’ve long been his “home away from home,” as he calls it—and we just call him family.
So when Wayne Jones of Headstrong Amps and JD approached us about a limited-edition release, the answer was a resounding yes! This amp is a standard Lil King model, set up to JD’s specs with a 12″ Alessandro SC64 Eminence speaker. The AA764 Princeton circuit is beautifully represented here, with lush reverb and a full, punchy bass response.
CVG appointments include white bronco tolex, small-weave cane grill cloth, a brown faceplate, and cream knobs. We truly believe this is as close to a vintage sound as modern production amps are capable of.
This production run is limited to 10, with only 7 left, each accompanied by a signed letter from Wayne—so grab one while they last!

A note from Headstrong:
“Introduced in 2004, the Lil King Reverb has become the go-to amp in homes, studios and stages throughout the world. We have aspired to painstakingly re-create one of the best small gig/rehearsal/recording amps of all time.
The original came with an inefficient 10″ speaker, which we also replicate for the die-hard purist using a 20 watt 10” speaker. The most popular model is outfitted with a 12″ GA-SC64 40 watt ceramic speaker. This helps with projection of the sound as well as a more defined bottom end. Using an original model to blueprint the chassis, and multiple good examples as a tonal reference, the Lil King has been garnering attention from even the most die-hard “vintage only” enthusiasts!”
