FRIDAY SEPT 12TH
#flattopfriday
This 1939 Martin D-45 S, custom-ordered by Maine cowboy singer Ken MacKenzie, represents one of the rarest pre-war examples ever produced.
Featuring MacKenzie’s name inlaid across the fretboard and crafted with Brazilian Rosewood and an Adirondack Spruce top, it was his lifetime guitar and a bold statement of the era.
With only 91 pre-war D-45s made, and just a handful designated “special order,” this instrument stands as a historic treasure in American cowboy and guitar history.
Featured provenance: original photographs of Ken MacKenzie playing his Special Order 1939 Martin D-45 S.
