This 1927 Washburn Bell Style 5271 is a highly distinctive creation by Lyon & Healy, made in Chicago, IL. Featuring a unique bell-shaped rosewood body with a spruce top, ebony fingerboard, and intricate gold leaf stenciling, it was marketed as one of the most innovative and beautiful guitars of its time. This model, renowned for its warm midrange tone was famously favored by poet Carl Sandburg and appeared in early 20th-century Vaudeville acts and television. Cosmetically, it remains in very fair shape for pushing 100 years of age! The V neck is very comfortable, and the action is nice and playable.
