This beautifully crafted Red Diamond F-5, just one serial number away from Aaron Weinstein's, is a truly special instrument with years of play and love etched into its patina. It’s got some character, with signs of honest wear—like a worn finish, some fret wear, and oxidized hardware—but it’s still a joy to play, offering a tone that has only deepened and matured over time. While it’s had the tuners replaced and is missing the pickguard, the mandolin is otherwise original. It comes in an older Canadian Calton case, ready for its next adventure.
From Red Diamond:
"The Red Diamond Vintage model arose after studying the flexibility of a number early 1920’s F-style mandolins. This culmination of information proved to be useful for controlling the voicing of new mandolins. With very promising results in the early batches, this project has moved forward in recent years to the study of individual instruments — the best of the best. Each batch of Red Diamond Vintage mandolins is unique and offers players the opportunity to play a new mandolin with a very similar sound, look and feel to the older mandolins that are now collector’s items."
