Crafting fine guitars in Chicago, the Larson brothers produced some very fine instruments that still hold their own today. This is an example of one under the name of Mauer. The Larson name carries a weight among guitar players and collectors as an excellent example of fine guitars built in the pre-war era that do not fetch the premium that Martin and Gibson instruments of the same time ask. However, we do tend to see the growth and value increase based less on the brand and more on the result of the work. With this particular example, we are welcomed with a well playing and extremely open guitar built from Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood. It has been improved and repaired over time to keep it in proper working order. Maintenance and Repairs include: Refinished body, neck reset, refret, replaced bridge, replaced nut/saddle, back removed for additional top bracing, patched bridge plate, cleated top cracks, spruce patch at sound hole, previous fingerboard separation
These repairs have occurred in the best interest of the instrument to maintain the joy and music it has to offer. This is a fine example for the player looking for an old Brazilian Rosewood guitar that sounds and plays exceptionally.
