Built during the Mark Sampson era, which is just one year after Matchless began producing the HC-30, making this 1992 amp a very early example. While it follows a Vox-style design, the added master volume is a highly useful feature, allowing you to achieve great tone at more manageable levels. The push-pull function also lets you bypass the control entirely. Channel 2 delivers that signature EF86 sound, though EF86 tubes can exhibit slight microphonic tendencies due to their design.
This amp has held up remarkably well for its age, showing very minor signs of previous wear. The matching cabinet features Matchless’ signature pairing of a 25W and 30W special-design Celestion speakers. Combined with the original covers, this makes for an excellent collector or player piece!
