Matchless Chieftain Head Sampson Era 1996, Black

This Matchless Chieftain was built in 1996, when Mark Sampson still worked for the company. Considering most Chieftain amps were 2x12 combos, that makes this head version the rarest configuration available. A huge upside to this is the fact that it's shippable, whereas the 80lbs combos are nearly impossible to transport that way.

The Chieftain can be thought of as the "flagship" of the early Matchless line. While most of their brand has been built on that simple yet reliable reputation, the Chieftain does feature both reverb and an effects loop, which gives it a nice versatility. The sound quality, and build quality of these amps are as good as you'll find in the modern era.
