Though this 1977 Small-Size model from luthier Grit Laskin came a little before the days of his innovative and groundbreaking inlay work, a keen eye and ear can tell it's Laskin through and through! This beautiful example of his early work was commissioned by the owner himself, and has been oft-played and well-maintained over the years. Grit's preferred soundboard of Sitka spruce is paired with a straight-grained, lighter-hued set of Indian rosewood on his Small-Size model. Grit describes it as "almost as small as a standard classical guitar and comes exclusively with a 12 fret neck joint", accented here with a generous Florentine cutaway. Tonally, it has the kind of warm, even voice that truly lives up to the term "balanced", making it excellent for recording and live performance. Delicate pearl maple leaf inlays on the headstock and heelcap, maple leaves carved on the neck heel, and a patterned rosette are subtly beautiful accents.
At 46 years old, it has some mild wear, but is in very good condition overall with no major dings or scratches. The seller disclosed that the bridge was professionally reglued a year ago after just beginning to lift, and the frets were replaced some years ago. A Fishman under-saddle pickup comes installed, and it comes in its original hardshell case.
