For sale is a new Kostal OO with German Spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back and sides completed on April 12th, 2023 and looking for its new forever home. The Madagascar rosewood on this guitar is one of my favorite sets as it is a beautifully quartersawn set with some spider webbing and a bit of sapwood to add a nice color palate to the mix. The color of this set is a lighter shade similar to that found on Honduran rosewood, but will oxidize over time to a nice deep brick red with brownish hues.
My OO model is one of my favorite models as it is small and manageable while maintaining a large and full bodied voice. This guitar lends itself incredibly well to fingerstyle playing with an articulate tonal spectrum consisting of a very rich fundamental note with dynamic overtones to give resonance and connection with each note. It is equally at home as a strumming guitar allowing the chords to feel vibrant and deep. The short 24.75" scale lends itself well to playing in standard while still allowing for a nice amount of string tension in open and dropped tunings. The neck is a comfortable profile coupled with a reduced radius fingerboard that helps reduce hand fatigue for those multi-hour playing sessions. The guitar comes with a white custom Hoffee carbon fiber case.
CVE Says...Long-time followers will know we're huge fans of the Kostal 00! Having played his incredible 00s in Brazilian rosewood, koa, ziricote, and more, we can confirm that this is no demure small-bodied guitar. While very comfortable to play in any setting, Jason's design ensures a powerful, well-rounded voice, excellent for players with a lighter touch, but with no loss of attack and presence while strumming.
