Introduced in 1956, the Guild Capri CE-100 was originally positioned as a direct competitor to the Gibson ES-175, but it is now a much sought-after and rare model. The twin pickup version, known as the CE-100D, made its debut in 1959. Like the Gibson, it features a 16" arched maple body, a 24 3/4" scale length, and a Florentine cutaway. However, with its 2 7/8" depth body, the Capri is slightly shallower than its Gibson counterpart, making it very comfortable under the arm. This design anticipated by decades the slimmer body profile of the D'Aquisto-inspired electric guitars that are popular among players today. This particular example from 1966 remains in its original condition displaying signs of wear from years of playing. It has some touchup in the finish on one of the corners of the headstock, and a few replace screws on the tuners, but is otherwise unbothered. The action is low and the original pickups sound incredible making this a fantastic player!
