In early 1965, if you were dreaming of an ES-335, but one of the many fans of the Texan singer Trini Lopez, you might spring the extra $400, in todays money, for Lopez's signature guitar. Known as the Trini Lopez Standard, it was essentially a 335 with a Firebird headstock and diamond inlays and f-holes; always in Cherry unless custom. The first marketing push was in June of 1965, so this example that was shipped in March 30, 1965 makes it a very early example and from a time when you didn't necessarily lust over it because your friend had it or you saw it on stage. There was an estimated 3 Trini Lopez Standards shipped in 1964 and 321 in 1965; so there are very few examples in existence with the coveted combination of a wide nut (1.668") and Nickel hardware. To boot, the shipping ledger shows this example was a factory second, so it was alotted a pickup and wiring harness that wasn't fresh off the factory line. It very luckily received a set of very early Nickel covered Patent Number Pickups with '63 Pots (solders untouched); as you likely know, these pickups have a lot in common with PAFs. At a later period in its life, it received a set of witch hat style replacement knobs and a "custom" truss rod cover. The case that this Trini Lopez spent the majority of its life in from the 1980s to now was too thrashed to save. It's a good one and so it got played; just like Dave Grohl would like.
Comes with replacement hardshell case.
