From its inception, the Gibson Southern Jumbo was the fancier version of the J-45. In the early 60's, when the Hummingbird came out with its square shouldered silhouette, the Souther Jumbo, SJ, followed suit. In many ways, this is a darker burst Hummingbird, sans the pickguard inlay. By 1970, Gibson was fully into its Norlin-era construction, but this example from 1969 is iconically classic Gibson. This one does have the larger maple bridge plate, but the overall sound is resonant thanks to a bridge conversion from its previous adjustable state. Well played and loved over its life, this Southern Jumbo is ready for more life.
Comes with hard shell case.
