Les Paul's name is most recognizable for the signature Gibson instrument, but his greatest contributions are arguably advancements in multitrack recording. As recording technology improved in the 60s, Les grew frustrated with the quality of guitars and worked with Gibson to develop the new Les Paul Recording model. Featuring a transformer allowing the choice of low and high impedance output, the LP Recording contained a number of tone selector options to allow a multitude of sounds at the highest recording quality direct to board or through amplification.
As with many advancements in the industry, guitarists tend to prefer tradition and the basics, and the Recording model fell out of favor and was discontinued by the end of the decade. Fortunately it still has all the vibe of a good 70s Gibson, and if you're a fan of tweaking your sound, this is definitely the instrument for you.
It has a repaired headstock crack, the back of neck painted black, and there is small damage to fretboard between 5 and 6 on the bass side (which does not affect playability) and on the low E string between 15-17 (which does affect playability, but can be fixed with some fretwork). Includes original hardshell case.
