Gibson first launched their small-bodied L series guitars in the early 20th century. Those earliest models were egg-shaped archtops, but they quickly evolved into their flattop, square-bottomed look by 1930, the year this all Mahogany model was made. As light, punchy and woody as you could hope from a vintage L-0, this one is in overall good condition, though with some repair history to note. It was at one point refinished, and a bridge plate was added to the previously reglued bridge on top and behind. We're not sure what was the cause, but a hole in the treble side upper bout was repaired and filled in (see photos). The repair appears stable, and has no impact on playability or tone to our ears. The top shows a little bit of sagging, and the frets are good up until the 12th fret with slight buzzing. It also has an LR Baggs Lyric installed. Caveats noted, this is a delightful little 12-fretter to play, and a great entry point into the vintage guitar world for the player looking for a Mahogany L series Gibson.
