This 2021 Gibson 1959 Les Paul Murphy Lab Ultra Heavy Aged leans fully into the look and feel of a long-played Burst, with extensive finish checking, hardware wear, and lacquer aging carried out through the Murphy Lab program. Finished in Sunburst, it draws heavily from the late-’50s Les Paul formula while adding the tactile details and broken-in appearance that have made these higher-end Murphy Lab guitars increasingly sought after. The aging work on this example is especially convincing, with a naturally worn look that avoids feeling overly uniform or artificial.
It retains its original electronics, including a Custombucker neck pickup and an Aged ’57 Classic bridge pickup. The guitar has a lively acoustic response with the thick midrange and vocal upper register expected from a good Les Paul-style instrument. Pickup covers were previously removed and later reinstalled alongside replaced pickguard mounting screws and a replacement screw on the bridge pickup. Overall condition remains excellent aside from the intentional factory relic treatment, and it includes the original hardshell case.
