This guitar is in fantastic condition with minimal play and handling wear. Pay attention to the details on Fritz's workmanship. Details like a roller bridge and the fit and finish at the end of the fretboard make this a special instrument. There is a small area of finish damage at the bottom of the control panel. It looks to be the remnants of a possible glue repair or old sticker residue.
"Roy Buchanan is one of me most influential Tele players who ever lived according to everyone. His playing turned the heads of listeners in many styles including, R&B, Metal, Rock, and Country. He is considered a master by his peers and fans. I am and always have been a huge Roy fan, and had the ultimate honor of being able to design and build him his signature guitar in 1987. Working together, we developed his guitar, the “Bluesmaster.”
He was looking for something unavailable at the time, so one had to invent the features he wanted in a Tele style instrument, Roy bent a lot at the nut and had very strong fingers causing string breakage, as well as tuning problems with conventional nut materials. So I came up with the patented stainless nut to eliminate those problems. It really worked. It even increased the sustain of the guitar for more steel like smoothness.
New at the time were Sperzel locking tuners that added to the tuning stability. From there I added tall, but not fat frets, for his style, along with a smooth but not slick ebony fret board. To facilitate the upper frets, I made the angled neck pocket and for the problem of the 60 cycle bum we used EMG Tele pickups with an EMG Strat pickup in the middle position. These pickups are the lower output EMG’s for a more natural sound. We also developed a simple 7 position switching for the pickups using a push/pull pot in the tone control. Thees features plus our stainless steel bridge and control plate make the “Bluesmaster” a solid choice for the professionals." - From Fritz Brothers
