A truly grail guitar for many. The Fender Stratocaster was first introduced as a deluxe addition to the Fender lineup next to the Telecaster in the 50's. This particular guitar is certainly a deluxe instrument. The tonal accomplishments of this guitar are so precise and everything you would like to hear when playing a Stratocaster. Sturgill Simpson is the owner of this particular instrument. His endorsement is not misplaced on this guitar as it stands as an incredible example of what a first year Strat should be. A guitar built nearly seven decades ago will undoubtedly go through significant changes. However, this guitar is nearly original and still sports the two-tone sunburst finish painted on in the early 50's.
The volume knob is worn smooth from years and years of play as well as the plastics on the pickup covers. The bridge pickup cover is worn through where the pick hits it repeatedly but suffers nothing from it. There is a small crack in the neck pickup tone knob but it still functions properly. When inspecting the horns of the guitar you will notice a bit of finish reaction inside the cutaways and if you look very closely one can see that a previous owner etched the initials R.B. on the inside of the bass horn.
Two pickup screws are replacements along with all of the saddle screws. The nut is also a replacement. This guitar is truly a testament to history and Leo Fender's construction and attention to what makes a guitar great. These instruments are sought after for many reasons, namely their iconic sound, and this guitar shines in the quack of the bridge pickup just as much as the richness and lower register of the neck pickup. A players guitar and a collectors guitar all at the same time, this 1954 Fender Stratocaster is one for the history books.
The guitar comes with the original Fender hard case and additionally has a green metallic sparkle Calton hard case.
