Fender Stratocaster 1966, Fiesta Red

This 1966 Fender Stratocaster was purchased at Biasco Music in Chicago and given to its original owner as a birthday gift in August of 1966. The Fiesta Red finish is paired with the exceptionally rare bound neck, a feature seldom seen on Stratocasters of this period. “Picture” and “Show” are written in the neck pocket, adding another small piece of its story, and the original owner dates its refret to 1988. The bridge ground, jack-to-volume ground, and tremolo claw ground have all been re-soldered, but the guitar otherwise retains a strong connection to its original configuration. Included with the guitar are a 1966 Fender catalog and price list, along with a photograph of the original owner playing the instrument; notably, the guitar may even appear in the 1966 Fender catalog.
