This 1963 Fender Stratocaster is a fantastic-sounding and beautifully playing pre-CBS example with all the feel and character you’d expect from an early-’60s Strat. Originally finished in Olympic White, the guitar was professionally refinished decades ago in a striking Candy Apple Red applied in a vintage-correct manner over a metallic gold base. The work was done long ago and has aged naturally, giving the instrument a cohesive, period-appropriate look that has fooled more than a few experienced eyes at first glance.
Under the hood, this is very much the real deal: original ’63 pickups and electronics deliver classic pre-CBS Strat tone — open, woody, and dynamic with plenty of chime and warmth. Recently re-fretted here at Carter Vintage with a new nut, it plays effortlessly up and down the neck and is ready for stage or studio use. The original nut is included in the case.
A high-quality replacement pickguard is currently installed for stability and playability; the original cracked guard is also included. The guitar comes with its original black Fender hardshell case.
For players and collectors looking for a genuine 1963 Stratocaster with outstanding tone and playability at a fraction of original-finish custom-color pricing, this is an inspiring and extremely usable example.
