Fender's Stratocaster, especially those produced before 1965, is widely regarded as the pinnacle of electric guitars by many enthusiasts. The demand for a solid body guitar with a more contoured shape and improved bridge saddles for better intonation arose following the introduction of the Esquire (Telecaster) in 1949. This led to the development of the iconic Stratocaster in 1953.
This pre-CBS Strat with its slab Brazilian fretboard exemplifies the coveted appearance and feel sought after by modern guitar enthusiasts. While contemporary replicas strive to capture its essence, they fall short. This example retains all of its original components with the exception of a refret, a replaced volume pot (original included in the case), and an added 5-way switch. This guitar has its original finish with some evidence of touch up on the body in a few spots. It is an excellent playing guitar and is setup with low action. The original single coil pickups are perfectly balanced giving you that classic sparkle and spank that the Stratocaster is known for.
