A true piece of history - a single owner Fender Stratocaster from 1956! The owner was a WW2 Veteran and game bird farmer who took an interest in guitar after listening to some of his fellow troops playing old country tunes around the campfire while he was stationed in the South Pacific. When he returned home he purchased a Harmony guitar which met an unfortunate end in a home of 7 children as you may imagine, one of their cousins knocking it over into the radiator and splitting the headstock; which leads us to this Strat. A local goat farmer ran a part time guitar shop out of his garage where the owner bought this guitar along with a since lost National guitar amp. It was used by the owner and by his son to perform and write together over the years, imbuing it with the sounds and songs of multiple generations and a life well lived.
As for the guitar itself, it feels every bit as good as you'd hope for from a '56 Stratocaster. The neck and body show signs of wear and checking that give it a great vintage feel. The middle pickup was re-wound by master pickup builder, Curtis Novak, and it has a replaced jack and 2 replaced knobs. It sounds incredible with a balanced and classic sound you can only get from a golden era Fender.
Includes a modern tweed hard case and a letter from the owner's son.
