Generally overshadowed by its 6 string counterpart, the 12 string guitar didn't see the limelight until the late '50s folk boom, and it wasn't until the mid '60s when the Beatles were seen performing with the Rickenbacker 360/12 that guitarists began to adopt the once folk instrument into their modern rock sound. Being introduced in late 1965 (just 4 months after CBS took over Fender), the Fender XII looked to provide the 12 string sound to everyone, making its way on to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven," The Who's "Tommy" and many more records and live performances.
This example is just stunning in looks, sound, and feel - playing surprisingly comfortably with loads of resonance, sustain, and acoustic volume that translates to the amplified sound very well. It's completely original with some general dings and scratches that add to the mojo of the instrument. It's been an immediate shop favorite and will be a fine addition to anyone's collection!
Includes its original hard shell case.
