Near the end of CBS's ownership of Fender, they appointed a man named Dan Smith who brought many welcome changes to Fender's specs that had been lost to '70s era CBS designs. He implemented a more pre-CBS accurate smaller headstock, a heel adjustment truss rod, 4 bolt neck, and a new slightly hotter 'X-1' bridge pickup while retaining the '70s style logo. This signified the end of the '70s era design cues, making many guitarists happier with the new "Standard Stratocaster." Because of the impact Dan Smith had on the design of the time, these are dubbed "Dan Smith" Strats as an homage to a man that brought Fender back to its roots.
As for this example, it is a beautiful Aztec Gold with matching gold hardware and its original electronics. With its flashy appointments and thin, fast neck it is just begging to be on stage! It has some general chips and scratches and the frets have some wear, but it plays great with no issue at all.
Includes its original tweed case.
