In 1959 Fender introduced a new Telecaster model, the "Custom Telecaster" to its line. The guitar featured a sunburst finish on an alder body along with a slab board neck. The body was also bound on the top and bottom. These early Custom Telecasters are widely sought out by collectors and they are rare. This very rare guitar dates to mid 1959, the body date is 5/59, and is one of the first examples of the model. There is no neck date on this instrument and that's par for the course, for Fender, during this time. The guitar is lightweight at 7.0 pounds, plays like the proverbial hot knife through butter and it's got that signature, absolutely killer, Tele twang. This Custom comes with the original strap and bridge cover. The original Kluson tuners are in the original tweed case; which has the period correct yellow lining.
Includes original case, that had been formerly painted red.
