"Parsons began making and installing the StringBender himself in 1973. He produced hundreds of units over many years before partnering with California folk musician Meridian Green in 1989 to increase production. Parsons and Green eventually approached the Fender Custom Shop, resulting in the signature Clarence White Telecaster model, which was introduced in 1995 and featured the modified “Parsons-White B-Bender". About 200 of these guitars were built through 2002."
Modeled after the one customized by and for the legend himself, this 1996 Fender Custom Shop Clarence White Tele is a ton of fun to play! It sports an ash body with lightly figured maple neck, and Scruggs banjo tuners are on the low and high E strings just like Clarence's original. The pickups are a custom 50s Strat neck pickup paired with a Texas Tele bridge pickup. Then, of course, there's the Parsons-White B-String Bender, an innovation Clarence popularized in his quest to pull off pedal steel licks on the six-string.
This guitar has a shaved down bridge for comfort, has a replaced switch tip, and some solder touchup on the neck pickup lead. These modifications do not affect playability or comfort at all, and this guitar is ready to find its new home! Comes with its original tweed case and COA signed by Fender Custom Shop manager John Page, June 1996.
